The Maltese Islands are a great location for family holidays. Gozo, Comino and Malta provide a wonderful setting in which parents and families can experience either an action packed holiday, or a relaxed one in a safe environment. Malta also has a rich historical background with endless opportunities for sightseeing. Maltese cuisine is an eclectic mix of Mediterranean cooking. This is a result of the many civilizations that have resided here over the years. Lampuki pie (fish pie) and Bigilla (a thick paste of beans and garlic) are a must have, though you will also find rabbit stew and Kapunata; which is the Maltese version of Ratatouille on most shop counters. ‘ħobż biż-żejt’  a round of bread dipped in olive oil, rubbed with ripe tomatoes and filled with a mix of tuna, onion, garlic, tomatoes and capers is a snack that you must try.

Time away from your busy schedule is what holidays are all about and Malta is the perfect place to get away from the daily hustle and bustle. The warm climate and fresh air is enough to rejuvenate you, but if you need a little extra help to wind down, there are several health and wellness spas with state of the art equipment and well trained staff. There is also plenty of opportunity to enjoy a wide variety of sporting activities for beginners and experts alike. Adrenaline junkies can paragliding or rock climb, but if you are looking for something more laid back, you can play a round of golf.

Natural escapes in Malta

Away from the usual sun and sand holidays, Malta has vast untouched stretches of untouched landscape. After the rains, from November till mid-may, the fields are full of flowers and plants and offers walkers stunning views of the Mediterranean. Gozo is very popular, especially for its beauty and serenity. The best place to take a walk is along the Dingli cliffs which offer a spectacular view of the coast and sunset. Another great location for a walk is the Island of Comino, which was once a pirate hideout. It is 2 km in length and 1.5 m in width so you can comfortably explore the whole island in solitude.
